Here are 6 easy hikes in the Chattanooga area to get you started:

  • Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center is the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon in Chattanooga.  There are 317 acres of terrain to explore, which include mountain slopes, wildflower paths, and the creek.  The Indian Profile Trail, in particular, is an easy 2.7 mile journey that will reward you with beautiful panoramic views of the park.  Visitors also often spot local wildlife residents as they meander along the trails.
  • The Glen Falls Trail is a short, but beautiful hike just outside of Chattanooga.  Hikers enjoy the beautiful rock formations here; especially the stone stairway, which leads to a path through a unique doorway/tunnel. There’s also a pretty waterfall here, which makes this a rewarding journey.
  • Easy Hikes in ChattanoogaGreenway Farm is a popular place for locals to head for an afternoon walk on a pretty spring day in Chattanooga.  The hikes here are within a 180-acre city park, which borders North Chickamauga Creek.  It’s an excellent place for a picnic, as well.  In total, there are 6 miles of walking, running, hiking, and biking trails. While you’re at Greenway Farm, you may as well take the time to explore the quarry, which was a source of limestone for the Chickamauga Dam.  It’s a beautiful and impressive sight to behold.
  • The Blue Blazes Trail, which is located across from Moccasin Bend, offers some incredible views up at Lookout Mountain–the reverse view that guests would enjoy from high atop Rock City and Lookout Mountain Attractions near our Inn.  The 2 mile loop will have you feeling like you’re lost in the woods, without actually getting lost.
  • Get the best of both worlds–history and hikes–at Cravens House on Lookout Mountain.  The trail heads mostly downhill, offering beautiful views of Chattanooga along the way, until you get to Cravens House, the only remaining Civil War era structure on the mountain.  If you want a little more out of your journey, from there head to Point Park for picturesque views of the city and an opportunity to learn about Chattanooga’s famous Battle Above the Clouds.
  • Chattanooga’s Riverwalk is a beautiful 13-mile trail that winds its way along the Chattanooga waterfront. Ultimately, this trail is planned to stretch 22 miles from downtown Chattanooga near the Tennessee Aquarium to the TVA Dam and out to Moccasin Bend National Archaeological District.  It’s a great way to take in the scenic beauty of Chattanooga.
