About Our Chattanooga Inn

A TIMELESS MOUNTAIN REATREAT

Welcome to Our Bed and Breakfast

Perched atop Lookout Mountain, Georgia—just minutes from downtown Chattanooga—the Chanticleer Inn Bed & Breakfast offers a harmonious blend of refined elegance and authentic charm at over 1800 feet above sea level. Built in 1927, our historic stone dwellings are thoughtfully arranged around a peaceful courtyard framed by lush gardens within the Fairyland neighborhood.

What began as a private mountain residence nearly a century ago has evolved into a beloved inn, cherished for its heritage, European-style architecture, and welcoming atmosphere. Each of our 20 guest rooms is a private retreat combining elegant details with conveniences like private baths, individual central heat, air conditioning, and unique furnishings. Most rooms feature a private patio, with their own iron chairs, fireplace and/or Whirlpool or steam shower, and an individual direct entrance from the parking area amongst other amenities.

Our property reflects a careful balance of classic character and modern comfort, offering a seasonal outdoor pool, bocce court, and inviting fire pit as well as Wi-Fi which covers the entire property.

Start your day with a delicious made-to-order breakfast served in our cheerful dining room or on the garden patio. In the afternoons, return from your mountain adventures to house-made refreshments—another thoughtful touch from our dedicated staff.

Ideal for romantic getaways, peaceful retreats, long weekends, or small gatherings, the inn also includes The Cottage—a spacious, four-bedroom home with a full kitchen, living room, and garden-view terrace. This beautiful cottage sleeps up to eight adults and is perfect for families, groups vacationing together, or extended stays.

The Chanticleer Inn continues to be a destination rooted in quality, comfort, and care. The moment you arrive, a sense of calm settles in—quiet surroundings, attentive hosts, and curated comforts welcome you with ease. Whether you're looking for adventure or a quiet getaway we’re honored to be part of your story.

The Chanticleer Inn, constructed in 1927 in the newly developed Fairyland neighborhood, was originally a private residence for Richard M. and Ann Lee S. Watkins. Following the death of her husband in 1929, Ann began renting rooms to the mountain’s growing number of visitors. The Inn became a mainstay in the 1920s and 1930s, thriving alongside the emergence of nearby Rock City and other Lookout Mountain attractions.

For nearly a century, the Chanticleer Inn has been thoughtfully expanded and renovated under several family ownerships. Acquired by Rock City Enterprises, previously See Rock City Inc. in 2022, the Inn continues to stand as one of Lookout Mountain’s finest lodgings.
