Chattanooga’s Top Bike Trails

Chattanooga’s status as a bike-friendly community has grown in recent years, to the point that it now hosts two large USA Cycling professional road championships in the city. The IRONMAN Triathlon series brings athletes from all over the world to ride (and swim and run) around Chattanooga, and the annual 3 State 3 Mountain Challenge has been the Southeast’s premier century ride for more than 25 years. Beyond those two events, there are plenty of great bike trails to enjoy around Chattanooga.  Here are a few of our favorites:

  • The Tennessee Riverwalk is a wide walking/biking path that winds along the Tennessee River for 13 miles, starting at the Chickamauga Dam, to Ross’ Landing in downtown Chattanooga.  It also connects via bridge to the Chickamauga Creek Greenway, for even more miles of beautiful cycling around Chattanooga.
  • Try These 5 Bike Trails in Chattanooga The Moccasin Bend Loop, popular with road cyclists, is a two-lane stretch of road that meanders down the iconic Chattanooga peninsula known as Moccasin Bend.
  • If you’re looking for a longer and more scenic bike trail, head to the Mountain Cove Loop, which traverses 80 miles up Lookout Mountain and back down the other side.
  • If you’re looking for some adventurous mountain biking opportunities, one of the best places to go is Raccoon Mountain, which boasts nearly 30 miles of singletrack bike trails, fit for both intermediate and advanced riders.
  • Stringers Ridge is also popular with mountain bikers, and features some truly beautiful views of Chattanooga.
